Internships
Overview
Exposure to sustainable development practice is a
requirement for the MDP students at the University
of Peradeniya. Students have the opportunity to use their
skills to address particular topics of interest to themselves, the
host organization after consultation with MDP internship
coordinators. These internships take place at the end of the first
year of the course for three months following a field training
seminar. These internships are not financially supported.
Students may choose to find their own internships in consultation
with the coordinator or may choose from options to be provided by
the MDP office at the University of Peradeniya and by FECT. Eight
internships are to be managed by FECT tentatively and details
regarding these internships may be obtained from us.
Internship Arrangements by FECT
FECT will contribute to the internship programme of the MDP using
their decade of experience and linkages to international and local
partners in sustainable development practice. FECT has tentative
agreements with several organizations to host practicum
placements. Each of these placements may be customized to some
extent and is also contingent on circumstances in the host
organizations.
Students keen to work at other institutions
should contact the internship coordinator at Peradeniya or FECT at
the earliest. On completion of the assignment, the student shall
provide a report and a presentation to be provided to the host
institution, their colleagues, and faculty members.
Organizations to which students can apply directly are listed for information. Please contact us first. Also let us know of other such potential hosts.
