Lareef Zubair :: Principal Scientist

Lareef Zubair is the Principal Scientist at FECT. Previously, he was a Post-Doctoral Associate in Mathematics and Engineering at Yale University, and in Climate Monitoring and Applications at the University Consortium for Atmospheric Science. He has also been a Senior Lecturer in Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a Research Fellow at the Institute of Fundamental Studies, Sri Lanka. He worked as a Scientist at the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI) and is attached to the Columbia University Water Center. His undergraduate education was at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and graduate work was at Yale University, U.S.A. . He is interested in tropical climate, climate impacts and adaptation, in the application of climate information and colonialism and modernization.

K.Shobana :: Trainee Administrative Assistant


K.shobana Completed her General certificate of Education (Advanced Level) and she passed NVQ Level IV (National vocational qualification) for Information & Communication Technology Technician. She also successfully completed Diploma in Computerized Accounting at Esoft Metro Campus Kandy and her previous work experience includes Data Entry Operator at Department of Animal Production & Health Peradeniya and now here she works as a Trainee Administrative Assistant.

Jonathan Frank :: Science Writer

Jonathan Frank

Jonathan Frank received his Associates degree from Broward Community College, Fort Lauderdale, Florida (United States) liaison with American College of Higher Education, Kandy (Sri Lanka), before studying abroad in Truman State University, Missouri (United States) for a year. His areas of interests include: literature, creative writing, social commentary, philosophy and visual arts.

Ashara Nijamdeen :: Intern Science Writer


Ashara Nijamdeen works as an intern science writer at FECT as on her final three months of her Bachelor of Industrial studies-Agriculture at The Open university of Sri Lanka with the Knowledge of Agricultural science. She already has obtained her Higher Diploma in Industrial studies-Agriculture at the Open University of Sri Lanka.

Manusha lakmali:: intern


Manusha is one of our interns and is currently an undergraduate at the University of Peradeniya, faculty of science where she’s majoring in Science & Operations Research. She is also a member of the Hanthana Conservation Society and an organizer for the Operation Research Society (2015) in UoP. In addition, Manusha volunteered in several projects for Agriculture and Infrastructure development.

Ranmalee Bandara :: Research Scientist


Ranmalee Bandara obtained a B.Sc in Surveying at the University of Sabaragamuwa, Sri Lanka in 2005 with first class honors and an M.Sc in Environmental Soil Science from the University of Peradeniya in 2008. Obtained her PhD Civil Engineering in 2014.She had supported the work on the project on rainwater harvesting.

P.H.D. Kusumawathie:: Senior Research Scientist

Dr. Kusum is the Regional Malaria Officer covering Kandy and Nuwara Eliya Districts. She is working for FECT as a Senior Research Scientist As well. She works on entomological surveillance of dengue as well while being seconded to the National Dengue Control Program. She has obtained her B.Sc in Zoology with honors from the University of Peradeniya and her M.S and Ph.D from the same University in Parasitology and Epidemiology. She also has received a Masters in Health Economics from Chulangakon University in Thailand. She has worked for over two decades in monitoring and control of infectious diseases and has maintained an active research program.

Janan Visvanathan:: System Administrator and IT Manager


Janan obtained his Information Technology B.Sc. degree from London Metropolitan University (UK) and Diploma in Web Engineering, Linux Administration and continuing his studies on MSCE,MSc He has mostly work experience in Network Administration, IT management over 6 years and also in IT Lecturing at gateway graduate school and other places. At FECT he works as an IT Manager.

Ruchira Lokuhetti:: Junior Research Assistant


Ruchira Lokuhetti joined FECT as an intern Junior Research Assistant after completing his B.Sc. (Applied Sciences) from University of Peradeniya with specialization in Mathematics and Physics. He is now is enrolled in the Industrial Mathematics program at PGIS.

Ananda Weerasinghe:: Senior Research Scientist

Ananda Weerasinghe is a Senior Research Engineer at FECT. He is also working as a Lecturer in Kotmale Irrigation Training Institute under the Irrigation Department of Ministry of Water Resources. He obtained his B.Eng. degree from City and Gilds, Sri Lanka, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and Masters of Business Administration from Wayamba university of Sri Lanka. His main areas of research include policy perspectives of climate variability, water resources management and irrigation water management. He has been serving Mahaweli authority of Sri Lanka from 1972 to 2010.

P.Wicramagamage :: GIS, Soils and Hydrology

Prof. Wickramagamage is working as a Professor of geography at University of Peradeniya and Senior Research Scientist at FECT. He obtained his B.A in Geography at the University of Peradeniya and his Ph.D in Physical Geology from the University of London. His main areas of research include GIS, soils, hydrology, climate and EIA on all of which he has published extenstively. He has been a partner and collaborator on several proposals and grants such as the Rain Water Harvesting Project (Provention), Masters in Development Practice Project (MacArthur), and AgMIP project (DfID).

Rimza Zacky :: Accountant

Rimza Zacky oversees the accounting system at FECT. She liaises with the Internal Auditor. She has 20 years of experience in accountancy and was previously attached to the accounting division for 17 years.`

Zeenas Yahiya :: Research Scientist and Project Manager


ZEENAS YAHIYA is an experienced climate, climate impact and adaptation researcher. She has been an investigator on projects on the use of climate information for drought risk management, water resources management, and disaster management. She has published in the Journal of Applied Meteorology, International Journal of Climate, Malaria Journal, Journal of the National Science Foundation in the peer reviewed literature.

She has led two projects supported from grants from WHO-SEARO and FAO-SEARCA that looked at climate and its impacts on agriculture and public health and co-led the successful completion of a grant from the PROVENTION consortium on drought risk management. She also co-led curriculum development for a Masters in Sustainable Development practice from the MacArthur Foundation. These were all based on peer-reviewed competitive proposals. She has supervised or co-supervised the thesis and project work of 10 undergraduates and 5 graduate students. Her contributions to education and capacity building include:operational climate services:  She has co-authored a reference guide for climate research for Sri Lanka. She holds a Bachelors degree (2nd class upper honours) from the Open University of Sri Lanka and has followed post-graduate training at the Post-graduate institute of science in GIS and the Department of Geography at the University of Peradeniya in Geography.

Prabodha Agalawatte :: Intermediate Research Scientist

Prabodha undertakes work on IT, climate and statistics at FECT and  manages FECT web sites. He obtained his B.Sc. (Applied Sciences) from University of Peradeniya with specialization in Statistics, IT and Physics and also he obtained his Master's Degree in Industrial Mathematics from University of Peradeniya, After starting work at FECT as an Intern for his training program at Peradeniya, Prabodha now continues on a regular assignment.

Neil Devadasan :: Consultant Systems Engineer and GIS Specialist

Neil obtained his B.Sc in Production Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and has trained in Systems Engineering and GIS at the Indiana University Purdue University at Indianopolis (IUPUI). He is a Director of the Polis Center which addresses common community problems and issues through innovating approaches in IT, GIS and other advanced technology. Neil collaborates with FECT in producing an interactive map server for Sri Lanka and in establishing the Tsunami assistance portal

Ajith Gunaratne :: Applied Mathematic

Ajith Gunaratne is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Florida A&M University. He holds a B.S from the University of Peradeniya and a Ph.D in Mathematics from Iowa State University. He was a member of the computational mathematics group with L. Zubair at the Institute of Fundamental Studies previously. He is collaborating with FECT on wind modeling activities.

Mizna Mohamed :: Environmental Science

Dr. Mizna has expertise on Environmental Sciences, Oceanography and Meteorology aquired at Flinders University of South Australia and the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. She is a specialist in coral reef resources and management with field work in the Maldives for her doctorate.

She has undertaken work related to community engagement for the protection of coral reefs as well. Before undertaking her doctoral work, she has contributed to major planning interventions on climate change including contributing to the first national communication, reviewing the Maldives National Adaptation Programme of Action for Climate Change, as the National Project Manager for the Integrated Climate Change Strategy project executed by Ministry of Environment, Energy
and Water, Maldives from 2005-2006 and as a Project Manager for National GHG Inventory and Vulnerability Assessment for the Maldives and She is attached to the Postgraduate Research Centre of Maldives National University as a Senior Lecturer"


Vidura Ralapanawe :: IT Consultant

Vidhura Ralapanawe received a B.Sc (Eng) from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in 1996 and a M.Sc in Responsibility & Business Practice from the University of Bath, U.K. in 2000. He has worked for IBM in New York and later as a consultant on social and environmental risk management & business strategy to the corporate sector in Sri Lanka. He is interested in sustainable development, technology and application of climate information. He is handling the Sri Lanka case study of the Natural Disaster Hotspots Project. He is also working with the IRI Data Library with multiple datasets for climate analysis and downscaling.

Ruvini Perera - Water and Environmental Engineer 

Ruvini Perera received a B.Sc. from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1995 in Civil Engineering and a M.S in Environmental Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1999. She has previously been employed at the Coast Conservation Department as a Coastal Engineer and as a Civil and Environmental Engineer at TAMS Consultants, New York and Dewberry, New Jersey. She supports statistical, GIS and analytical work.

Sanjeewa Maithripala - Computational Mathematics


Sanjeewa Maithripala obtained his B.Sc and M.Phil in Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and his Ph.D at the Texas Technological University. He has collaborated with FECT on the Tsunami work, in developing a proposal for masters in sustainable development and presently in simple mathematical models for weather and climate.

Sabry Razick :: Consultant, Scientific Computation

Sabry obtained his B.S in Microbiology from the University of Kelaniya and after serving there as an Assistant Lecturer, he completed his M.Sc in Bioinformatics at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden and is reading for a Ph.D at the University of Oslo. He has been supporting FECT since its inception in the computing infrastructure and scientific computation.

Sarith Mahanama :: Land Surface Modeling and Meteorological Remote Sensing

Sarith obtained his B.S in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and his Ph.D from the University of Hong Kong. He has been attached to the NASA Land Surfacing Modeling group at Greenbelt, MD since 2001. Sarith recently implemented the Catchment Land Surface Model for Sri Lanka in collaboration with FECT.

Nalin Wickramanayaka :: Environmental Engineering and Coastal Zone Management

Nalin Wickramanayake obtained his B.Sc (Eng) in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and his Ph.D from the Massachussets Institute of Technology. After serving at the University of Peradeniya and the Lanka Hydraulics Institute in senior role, Nalin is now a Senior Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the Open University of Sri Lanka. Nalin has a long history of collaboration with FECT and most recently with the MacArthur supported Masters in Development Practice at the University of Peradeniya and with the UNESCO project on Coastal Inlets.

Herath Manthithilake :: Water Resource Engineer

He earned his PhD in Water Resources Engineering from the Civil Engineering Institute, Moscow in 1983. As Director of the Environmental and Forestry division of the MASL, Dr. Manthrithillake was our initial principal collaborator at the MASL on Water Resources Management and Human Elephant Conflict. He guided our work through project formulation, staff recruitment and project implementation in the initial years and later on the establishment of FECT. He is currently the Head, Regional Office in Central Asia, International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Ajith Gunaratne :: Applied Mathematic

Ajith Gunaratne is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Florida A&M University. He holds a B.S from the University of Peradeniya and a Ph.D in Mathematics from Iowa State University. Sri Ramany Sritharan

Ramany Sritharan received her Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Science from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Masters Degree in Irrigation Engineering and Management from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. She served as a Tutor at the Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Peradeniya, and as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Agriculture, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. She worked as a Research Assistant at Center for International Earth Science Information Networks (CIESIN), Columbia University. Currently,she is working at IRI, developing climate datasets for analysis through data library

Kanthi Perera :: Mathematics and Statistics Dr. Kanthi Perera received her Bachelors Degree in Mathematics Special (1982) from Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Sri Lanka, Masters Degree in Mathematical Statistics (1988) from Department of Mathematics and Statistics, State University of New York, USA and PhD in Mathematical Statistics (1993) from Department of Mathematics and Statistics, State University of New York. Currently she is working as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Engineering Mathematics, University of Peradeniya.

Chamila Walgampaya :: Statistics and Data Mining Chamila Walgampaya holds Bachelors Degree from University of Peradeniya, Masters Degree and PhD from University of Louisville, Louisville, KY, USA. Currently he is working as a Senior Lecturer in Department of Engineering Mathematics, University of Peradeniya.

Sewwandhi Chanrasekara :: MDP Coordinator and Intermediate Research Scientist

Sewwandhi Chandrasekara obtained B.Sc. Agriculture at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2007 with the specialization of Agricultural Engineering. She completed her M. Phil in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the same University in 2011. She is working as FECT Coordinator of Masters in Development Practice which is 2 year masters course carried out by Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. She also undertakes work as a research scientist in the areas of Agricultural Engineering, Integrated Water Resources Management, Water Policies and Climate Change.

Yoosuf Ashraj :: Data Management


Yoosuf Ashraj graduated with honours in Chemical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He manages our data resources and acquires data as needed while being based in Colombo. He is also undertaking climate impact analysis for hydropower in Sri Lanka

Badra Nawarathna :: Civil Engineer


Badra Nawarathna has been seconded from the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka to work on Weather and Climate Diagnostics useful for the Authority. She undertakes work on satellite rainfall estimates, evaporation and hydrological models. She has qualified as a Civil Engineer through the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.

Raashid Zubair provides IT and administrative support. He has a Bachelors degree from the School of Audio Engineering (Singapore).

Dumindu Herath – Intermediate Research Scientist

Dumindu graduated from University of Peradeniya with a Applied sciences in 2008. He is an UK qualified graduate with a Masters degree in Energy and Environmental Management with emphasis on Renewable Energy technologies, Energy & Environmental Management systems and Climate change & Carbon Management. He holds a Postgraduate diploma in Applied Statistics from Post Graduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya.

Erandika Wijekoon:: Intermediate Research Scientist

Erandika Wijekoon obtained her B.Sc. Agriculture from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in 2008 with the specialization of Agribusiness Management. She is reading for her M. Phil in Agricultural Economics in Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. She has two years of post-graduate teaching experience at the Department of Agribusiness Management, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. She also served at the Institute of Policy Studies and Sarvodaya Fusion previously.

Heli Bulathsinhala :: Junior Research Engineer

Heli holds a B.Sc degree in 2nd (Upper) Class in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa. He joined the projects in 2001 and collected climate data, carried out data analysis, quality control, climate impacts assessments and hydro-meteorological work. He worked on both the water resources and climate change components of our work. While engaged in the project, Heli undertook and completed an M.Sc candidate in Water Resources at the University of Moratuwa on climate change.

Yasas Harishchandra obtained his B.Sc. in Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka in 2012 with honors. Yasas undertakes work on IT,climate and statistics at FECT

Kusalika Ariyarathna :: Junior Research Engineer

Kusalika holds a B.Sc (Eng.) degree in the First Class from the University of Peradeniya. She was attached to the project from 2003. She collected climate, maritime and plantation data, carries out data analysis and quality control and climate impacts assessments. She completed her M.Sc in Oceanography while concurrently being attached to the project and now is a Fulbright scholar reading for a Ph.D at Texas A&M University.

Chanaka Wickremasinghe :: Data Entry Operator

Chanaka completed his General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Education. and has training in desktop publishing. He undertook data acquisition, entry, scanning and checking for a year ending February 2003.

Irugal Bandara :: Junior Research Scientist

Irugal Bandara obtained a B.Sc in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Peradeniya in 1999. Thereafter, he followed a year-long post-graduate diploma course at the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, Deharadun, India. His research covered the use of remotely sensed data to develop alternative approaches to rainfall-runoff modelling in catchments with sparse hydrological data. Bandara assisted with the project on Tea and Coconut Plantations.

Siraj Razik :: IT Engineer

Siraj obtained a BIT from Curtin University of Technology of Australia. He worked with project staff to construct the website.He also undertakes system administration and maintenance.

Manjula Siriwardhana :: Junior Research Engineer

Manjula Siriwardhana obtained a B.Sc. in Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka in December 2003 with honors. She is researching under the project ‘Assessment of Impact of and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Plantation sector in Sri Lanka’. She is working under ‘Mahaweli River Basin Project’from January 2005.

Upamala Tennakoon :: GIS Operator

Upamala has been trained in GIS work through the Environment and Development project in Ordnance Survey, UK in Resource Survey and Mapping, Cartography and GIS. She counts ten years of experience in drafting, cartography, architectural work, mapping and GIS work. Upamala provides GIS, graphics and presentation support for the project work. She is developing an Atlas of Climatology for Sri Lanka and an Information System for the Mahaweli Project.

Amal Thillakarathne :: Data Entry Operator

Amal performed data entry tasks from October 2006 till March 2007 before entering the University of Peradeniya to readfor a degree in the Physical Sciences.

Amila Karunaratne :: Web Master

Amila followed the BIT course while maintaining FECT websites from 2007 to 2008. He also undertook system administratio and maintenance.

Susanthi Liyanaarachchi :: Research Engineer (Junior)

Susanthi Liyanaarachchi obtained a B.Sc in Chemical and Process Engineering with honors at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2005 and a post-graduate diploma in 2007 in the same field by research from the University of Peradeniya in 2008. She is supporting the project on seasonal climate forecasting for the Kelani river.

Saman Rathnayake :: Research Assitant

Saman Rathnayake undertook undergraduate education in physical sciences at the University of Peradeniya. He served as an Information Assistant for Disaster Management from February to May 2005.

Champika had completed her B.A with honors specializing in geography at the University of Peradeniya. She workedas a Junior Research Scientist from April to July 2007.

Sanjaya Rathnayake :: Junior Research Scientist  

Sanjaya obtained his B.Sc. degree from Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa, in 2009 and is reading for his M Sc.(Applied Statistics) at the Post Graduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya. He is following “Top CIMA” at Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. He worked as IT Specialist at FECT and Visiting Lecture at University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Information Technology on Java Network Programming. At FECT, he has worked as a statistician and IT specialist.  

Sumudu Adhikari :: Junior Research Scientist


Sumudu obtained a B.Sc in the Phsical Sciences at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2008 with honors. She undertakes climate data management and diagnostics.

Janaki Chandimala :: Intermediate Research Engineer


Janaki Chandimala obtained a B.Sc in Civil Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 1999 with honors and an M.Sc in Hydrology and Environmental Engineering from Hohai University, Nanjing, China in 2002. She modelled riverbed evolution in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River analytically and attempted to predict its future behaviour. An information system was developed to visualize and analyze the river behavior in a GIS domain. Since January 2003, she has been working climatic and hydro-meteorological analysis.

Madhura Weerasekera :: Research Scientist (Junior)


Madhura Weerasekera obtained a BSc special degree in Environmental Sciences and Natural Resources Management at the Sbaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2009 and currently is reading for his masters in GIS and Remote Sensing at the Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Since December 2009 he has been working as a Junior Research Scientist at FECT and supporting projects on disaster risk, seasonal hydroclimatic monitoring and prediction and infectious diseases.

K. Shanmuganathan :: Senior Research Scientist

Shanmuganathan obtained his B.Sc. (Agriculture) from Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya in 1975 and M.Sc. in Agriculture- Engineering from the Post Graduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya in 1982. Thereafter, he earned his M. Phil (Agric. & Environmental Science) from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom in 1992. He joined the Sugarcane Research Institute in 1975 as Division Agricultural Officer (Research & Plantation) and rose to became Deputy Director, Research by 2004.

G.M.P. Kumara


Pradeep Kumara is an Agricultural Engineer,Obtained his Bsc from University of Peradeniya,He is working on use of instruments for soil and soil moisture measurements. He was at FECT for his in-plant training and was engaged with the AgMIP work.

Darshana Nalinda Wijesinghe

Darshana Nalinda Wijesinghe holds a B.Sc (Special) Agriculture Degree in Crop Science from the University of Ruhuna. He was recruited to FECT for the AgMIP project, and worked as a Junior Research Scientist at the SRI from July 2013 – December 2013. During his stay he collected sugarcane data by conducting surveys at farm level.

M.H. Navoda Mihiraj

M.H. Navoda Mihiraj has a BSc. (special) in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Ruhuna. Navoda worked at the University of Ruhuna as a Research Assistant for the AgMIP project, and later joined FECT as a Junior Research Scientist for the same project in December 2013, and left within a short period of time to join the Government Sector.

Shashini works as a Junior Research Scientist at FECT and she graduated from University of Peradeniya with a BSc. Special Degree in Computer Science. 

Udara Rathnayake :: Junior Research Scientist


Udara Rathnayake is working as an intern at FECT as the final three months of her BSc special degree in Statistics at the University of Peradeniya with the knowledge of Mathematics and Computer Science.

Madura Dharmadasa :: Writer-Researcher


M. Dharmadasa obtained his B.Sc. (Agriculture) in 1982 from University of Peradeniya and M.Phil. degree from Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, Peradeniya in 1994 and Ph.D. from Lincoln University, New Zealand in 2004. Prior to join FECT he served as a Researcher in the Department of Export Agriculture from 1983 to 2014 and in 2013 he was promoted to the post of Deputy Director.

Indika Sandamali :: Trainee Programmer


Indika Sandamali started working at FECT as an Intern for her training program at National Institute of Business Management for her Higher Diploma in Computer Based Information Systems. Now she works as a Trainee Programmer while doing her Computer Science B.Sc degree from University College of Dublin (Ireland).

Chamidu Gunaratne :: Intern


Chamidu Gunaratne completed her General Certificate of Education Advanced Level in 2014. She has training in web designing and graphics. She currently works as an Intern at FECT from July 2015."

S.A.M. Nasly::Junior Research Scientist

Nasly earned his B.Sc. Special Degree in Statistics from the University of Colombo with Second Class Lower Division. He worked as an Instructor in the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Science in University of Colombo from October 2008 to October 2009 and worked as a Computer lab Administrator during the same working period. At FECT, he undertook statistical analysis for climate prediction projects and for climate-rice analysis projects.

Yuganthi Indrachapa graduated from the University of Peradeniya in Geography, was attached to FECT as a Research Assistant to the AgMIP project. She contributed to the Pinga-Oya Symposium sponsored by FECT through GIS mapping and preparation of a model of the Pinga-Oya.

Hasara Rathnasekera

Hasara Rathnasekera – She is an Agricultural Economics student from the University of Peradeniya. She was attached to FECT for her in-plant training for a short period. She conducted a farm survey in Migalawa Block in Mahaweli System H and developed an overview of the Ag Econ issues in the Mahaweli systems, by reviewing how operational monitoring and planning is taking place, and how climate change impacts the Mahaweli systems.

Wasantha Samarawickrema

Wasantha Samarawickrema – Joined FECT as an Administrator Wasantha is a person with lots of prior experience in project management, administration, and organizational development. She has worked nationally and internationally in projects connected to State, NGO, and INGO sectors.

Akram Kamiss

Akram graduated from the British Computer Society (BCS-UK) by completing the BCS higher education qualifications. He is continuing studies on CCNA, MCSA certifications and he is interested in computer networking and system administration.He joined FECT as a trainee Programmer/ Data Analyst. Akram undertakes Programming, Climate Data Analysis, Data illustrations and work on Hydro-meteorological reports for Sri Lanka.

Deepashika Gunasekera :: Publishing and Communication Coordinator

Deepashika has worked for many years at Plan International and COSI and water and sanitation related projects and has experience and research with and on community based organizations. She has also been teaching in the MBA program of ICBT. She completed her undergraduate degree in Math and Computer Sci in 1997 at peradeniya and then completed a masters in project management at moratuwa and has had short training programs at PGIA on IWRM and in Finland on Env Microbiology.

Shafna Sadeek:: Trainee Science Writer

Shafna Sadeek has obtained a Higher National Diploma in Biomedical Science from Business Management School, Colombo. Having a keen interest in writing, starting from younger grades, she has now joined FECT as a trainee Science Writer.
